19 people injured in Sadiqabad bank building explosion

SADIQABAD: At least 19 people were injured in a blast inside the building of a private bank on National Highway in Sadiqabad, citing officials ARY News reported on Thursday.

The nature and the cause of the blast is yet to be determined. DPO Umar Salamat called the loud explosion a big blast adding that “the cause of the blast yet to be determined.”

The explosion razed building of the bank to the ground at the National Highway.

It was such an intense explosion that the shock waves of the blast shattered glasses of the cars parked outside the building, eyewitnesses said.

There wasn’t any gas cylinder in the bank building neither an electricity short-circuit happened, another witness of the incident said.

The emergency services personnel reached to the spot as the blast reported.

The law enforcement personnel cordoned off the area surrounding the bank premises.

A search and rescue operation was initiated after the explosion.

Deputy Commissioner Sadiqabad Jameel Ahmed has declared an emergency in the DHQ and Sheikh Zaid Hospital.

A spokesman of the district administration has said that 19 persons were injured in the incident, 14 of which were admitted at District Headquarters Hospital (DHQ), while five injured in a precarious condition were transferred to Shaikh Zaid Hospital.

The investigation has been underway to determine the nature and cause of the blast, he added.
