KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah summoned cabinet meeting to discuss Police Act-2002, ARY News reported.
Sources said that the provincial government resolved to restore Police Act-2002. Under the act, the provincial government would regain powers of transfer and posting in the police department.
After the endorsement of the provincial cabinet, the bill would be tabled in Sindh Assembly for final approval.
After implementation of the act, police would be bound to get permission from district public safety commission to lodge any case.
It is pertinent to mention here that Police-Act 2002 was imposed in the era of former president Pervez Musharraf. Later the Pakistan Peoples Party government had abolished the act through legislation.

Earlier, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah on April 29 had assured the Sindh High Court (SHC) to finalise police rules and act within one month.
The high court had conducted hearing of a case relating to delay in implementation of police reforms in light of judicial orders in the Sindh police department.
To this, Auditor General Sindh had apprised the court that CM Shah had assured finalisation of police rules and acts within one month.
