WASHINGTON: Renowned Pakistani philosopher and scholar Jawaid Bhutto was gunned down in Washington on Friday night .
According to details, Javed Bhutto, 64, was shot dead, allegedly by his neighbor, outside a convenience store in Southeast Washington.
Police claimed to have arrested Hilman Jordan, 45, for allegedly killing the renewed Pakistani scholar. the police said that Jordan was the neighbor of Bhutto and had been involved in dispute with him.
It is pertinently to mention here that Javed Bhutto had recently lodged a complaint against the Hilman Jordan with the building’s owner. Hilman Jordan was a heavy drinker and often noisy and his behavior was creating problems for his neighbors, including Javed Bhutto, a philosopher.
Javed Bhutto had served at Sindh University as the head of Philosophy Department. He was a native of Shikarpur and the husband of journalist Nafisa Hoodbhoy and brother-in-law of renowned Pakistani physicist Pervez Hoodbhoy.
Condoling with the Bhutto’s family, journalist Owais Tohid said, ‘The murder of friend Javed Bhutto in Washington has shaken people across Sindh.”
