ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court (SC) on Friday has fixed December 19 for hearing a contempt case against former Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) senator Faisal Raza Abidi.
According to the details, the apex court formed a three-member bench headed by Justice Azmat Saeed Sheikh to hear the contempt case against Faisal Raza Abidi on Wednesday (December 19).
The SC also served notice on Faisal Raza Abidi, directing him to appear before the court in person on the said date.
It is pertinent to mention here that the PPP leader had been arrested on October 10 over using inappropriate language against the SC chief justice.
On Sep 21, the capital police had registered a case against former senator Faisal Raza Abidi for using derogatory and defamatory language against the apex court judge.
The case was registered at the Secretariat police station under PPC’s sections 228, 500, 505(ii) and 34 read with the ATA 1997.
According to the FIR, in a video, which went viral on social media, the accused used highly abusive, contemptuous, and threatening language against state institutions.
The former senator has been accused of leveling accusations against individuals holding the highest constitutional posts.
