ISLAMABAD: The Foreign Office (FO) on Thursday elucidated “Pakistan was not trying to convince India for talks,” adding that Kartarpur border can only be opened if the eastern neighbor agrees to sit on the negotiations table.

Throwing more light on the backtracking of India from talks with Pakistan, Dr. Faisal the spokesperson of FO stated that it was India that had first sent a letter to Pakistan with an invitation for negotiations. He further said that Kartarpur border can be only opened in a case when talks would take place between the arch-rivals.

Briefing on the recent visit of Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi to the United States, Dr. Faisal shared that the Minister vehemently drew attention of the global community that Pakistan would never bargain on its national integrity.

“The bilateral ties between Pakistan and the US are moving ahead in a positive way, however, on the issue of Shakil Afridi, the stance of Pakistan remains unchanged,” he told the media.

During its weekly media brief, the FO severely denounced the use of chemical weapons by Indian troops in Kashmir. Quoting the numbers of martyrs, he informed that Indian atrocities left 18 innocent Kashmiris dead.

Dr. Faisal apprised that the hearing case of Kulbhushan Jadhav will be held on February 18 and Pakistan is fully prepared to advocate its case before the International Court of Justice.
