LAHORE: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Lahore has arrested a youth allegedly involved in harassing a girl on the social media.
According to the FIA spokesman, the man named Asadullah Khan had filed a complaint that a person namely Shahroz was blackmailing his daughter using her obscene images and videos made by him.
Reaction on the complaint, the FIA team conducted a raid and apprehended the accused. The team also recovered obnoxious material from his mobile phone.
A case has been registered against the accused.
The FIA has been taking action against people using social media to harass females for the purpose to black mail them.
In July this year, the Senate Standing Committee on Interior had directed the FIA to take action against those who exploit social media for wrong propaganda, mislead nation and use abusive language against the opponents.
Chairing a meeting here, Senator Rehman Malik said social media has become a necessity of time and gained importance worldwide.
Malik said, “We are not in favour of restricting any media including social media and will not let anyone to do so. Our reservations are on wrongly usage of social media.”
