LAHORE: The Pakistan Blind Cricket Council (PBCC) has announced to form a blind women’s cricket team. As many as 100 players have been registered for the new team.
Talking to reporters, the PBCC head Sultan Shah said a trial would be held soon to pick a 15-member team for its first home series against Nepal this year.
Shah said the West Indies had also formed a blind women’s team, so, later a series against them could also be staged.
He said the women cricketers have shown great interest for the game and that encouraged the PBCC to take the decision.
Blind cricket is a version of the sport of cricket adapted for blind and partially sighted players. It has been governed by the World Blind Cricket Council (WBCC) since 1996. So far, five Blind World Cups have been held in New Delhi (1998); Chennai (2002) Islamabad (2006), India (2018).
