ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) stalwart Chaudhry Nisar on Saturday regretted that despite his 34-year long association with the party through thick and thin, ousted premier Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam Nawaz are busy taunting him.

Speaking at a press conference, he clarified that he was not disgruntled with the party, nor did he want to desert the party. He said that he didn’t cherish any scheme against the party.

The former interior minister said when the Panama leaks surfaced he advised the former premier against going to the Supreme Court and addressing the parliament.

He said when a joint investigation team was formed to probe the Sharif family’s wealth, he suggested Sharif to hold meetings with the army chief and director general of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) to effect that a brigadier-rank army officer shouldn’t be made part of the probe team.

He said he further advised Sharif to tone down his narrative against the army and the judiciary.

Nisar said there were a large number of discontented MNAs after Sharif’s disqualification, who were ready to rally around if he had embarked on any venture.

He thanked PTI Imran Khan and other party leaders for holding out an offer to join their party.
