ISLAMABAD: In reaction to arch-rival Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan’s 11-point manifesto which he announced at Sunday’s rally in Lahore, ousted prime minister Nawaz Sharif on Monday said his government would have made ‘Naya Pakistan’ during its tenure, but it was not allowed to function.

Speaking to the media outside the accountability court in the capital city, Sharif said whenever his party’s government came into power, it carried out record development work in the country.

Slamming the PTI, Nawaz Sharif said they have been hearing what the party says new slogans for several years.

“We would have made Naya Pakistan, but who allows to work here?” the PML-N supremo asked and added that the government can work freely only after leg-pulling is stopped in Pakistan.

In reference to the Indian prime minister’s latest visit to China, he said both the countries are coming closer to each other and lamented that “we have learnt nothing from the past.”

Addressing a mammoth gathering at Minar-i-Pakistan on Sunday evening, the PTI chief unveiled an 11-point agenda to turn the country into Naya Pakistan.

He announced that eradication of corruption, self-reliance, and provision of healthcare and education are top priorities of his party.
