KARACHI: Pakistan leg spinner Shadab Khan has been fined 20 percent of his match fee and received one demerit point, after the bowler was found guilty of a Level 1 breach of the International Cricket Council’s Code of Conduct during Twenty20 International against the West Indies in Karachi on Monday.

The youngster violated Article 2.1.7 of the code, which relates to “using language, actions or gestures which disparage or which could provoke an aggressive reaction from a batsman upon his/her dismissal during an international match,” stated the ICC.

The incident occurred during the ninth over of the Windies’ innings when Shadab, after dismissing opener Chadwick Walton, pointed his finger at the dismissed batsman, while also making an inappropriate comment.

He has received one demit point, if he receives three more in the next 24 months, he will be banned for few matches.

After the match, Shadab admitted the offence and accepted the sanction proposed by match referee David Boon and, as such, there was no need for a formal hearing.
