Musharraf to be shifted to Karachi for treatment

TOP NEWS

KARACHI: Former president Pervez Musharraf, who is indicted in a treason case, will now be shifted to a hospital in Karachi for treatment, ARY News reported Wednesday.

Security has been beefed up around Pakistan Navy Shifa (PNS) Hospital, where Musharraf will be treated.

Musharraf is currently at his Chak Shehzad farmhouse in Islamabad, where he is under-treatment. Prior to it, he was admitted at Armed Forces Institute of Cardiology (AFIC) amid high-security.

The special court hearing treason trial for Musharraf had indicted him on March 31. The court remarked that Pervez Musharraf broke the constitution after imposing emergency in the country in November 2007. Musharraf refused to accept the charges against him. "I am not guilty", he added.

Sources cited security reasons behind shifting of Musharraf to Karachi.
