KARACHI: A former inspector of the Counter Terrorism Department has been dismissed for allegedly having shared sensitive information with the Muttahida Quami Movement – London (MQM-L).

Syed Ali Raza was incharge of the STIG Intelligence Counter Terrorism Department Karachi, and was appointed after the assassination of Chaudhry Aslam.

MQM-L activist Umair Hassan Siddiqui, who was the former sector incharge in Gulshan-e-Maymar, made the startling revelation to law-enforcement agencies in a Joint Investigation Team that the inspector provided sensitive information to them.

Siddiqui also alleged that the inspector facilitated several members of the MQM-L involved in target killing and terrorism.

CTD had issued a show-cause notice to Ali Raza but his written were unsatisfactory and he also failed to appear in person. Therefore, he was consequently dismissed from service with immediate effect.

A notification for his termination was issued on September 9 by Additional Inspector-General CTD Sanaullah Abbasi.
