PESHAWAR: Five people were killed when a roadside remote controlled blast ripped through a passing vehicle in Dars Jamaat area of Bara Tehsil in Khyber Agency on Monday, ARY News reported.

According to Levies forces, the blast targeted a vehicle of Aman Committee that killed five people including four members of Aman Committee (Peace Committee). However, the identification of the deceased could not be ascertained immediately.

The security forces reached to the spot and cordoned off the area to apprehend possible attackers nearby and collect evidences.

No militant group has claimed responsibility of the attack so far. However, in past such attacks were carried out by banned religious outfits against members of the pro-government peace committees.

The peace committees in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were formed to extend help to the security forces to force out the militants from the areas.
