KARACHI: Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) chief Mustafa Kamal on Tuesday demanded the government of Sindh to immediately restore the policy powers of the Pakistan Rangers in Karachi.
Addressing media from a protest camp outside the Karachi Press Club, Kamal decried the delaying tactics of the Sindh government in extending the policing powers of the Rangers, which expired on April 15.
He questioned the rationale behind the delay by Sindh government, and warned Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah from playing with the life and security of the people of the city.
“Chief minister should resolve the issue right now today,” he said. “He should not play with the security of the people of the city.”
He asked why the provincial government after every three month, when mandate expires, delays the matter unnecessarily when it itself requested the Rangers to deployed.
“What kind a government, after every three months, comes in confrontation with the Rangers, which it itself called for be deployed,” he said.
He said that Sindh government starts to blackmail the Rangers, when the security situation is biggest issue facing the nation, and starts politics and bargaining over the issue.
