KARACHI: Asia Cup Cricket tournament 2014 is set to begin from Tuesday (tomorrow) in Bangladesh featuring five teams, with fans largely awaiting the high-profile encounter between Pakistan and India.
The inaugural match will be played between defending champions Pakistan and Sri Lanka. The match will start at 1pm (Pakistan time), ARY News reported on Monday.
Afghanistan will be the fifth team in this year's Asia Cup and Bangladesh remains the host of the tournament despite political turmoil in the country.
A total of 11 games will be played in the Feb 25 – Mar 8 tournament.
Pakistan Captain Misbah-ul-Haq said his team had all the capabilities to defend the title. He said no team could be taken for granted. India has topped the list winning Asia Cup title with 5 triumphs, followed by Sri Lanka 4, and Pakistan 2.
Afghanistan will play their first 50-over World Cup in 2015 in New Zealand and Australia after they beat Kenya to finish second in the World Cricket League championship in October last year.
