Speaking exclusively to ARY News, the imprisoned Karachi mayor’s wife claimed that she has gone through the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) report of Dr Asim Hussain case and the report nowhere claims that Waseem Akhtar ever referred a terrorist for medical treatment.

“The whole world is mocking us over this treatment (of Akhtar), that a mayor is coming from jail to take oath. I appeal, in fact demand from Chief Justice of Pakistan to provide him bail and if these cases are bogus, they must be dismissed,” said

Mutahidda Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Waseem Akhtar, who is under arrest in the case, took oath as mayor of Karachi at a ceremony today in city’s Polo Ground.

Fellow party leader Arshad Vohra also took oath as deputy mayor of Karachi. The venue was guarded with stringent security as Akhtar arrived under law enforcers protection from prison following production order issued by the court.

Addressing a big gathering of people following the oath-taking ceremony Waseem Akhtar thanked the people of Karachi, party workers, PPP, PML-N, PTI and other political parties for electing and supporting him for the post of the city’s new mayor.
