The US Embassy clarification comes in the wake of earlier media reports that Pakistan had become a part of US visa waiver programme.
Some of the Urdu dailies also carried quotes of top US official in their reports. A foreign website had published a satirical piece that some local dailies re-produced it as a news report.
The US Embassy has denied any such decision being taken.
