Coastguards seize drugs from passenger coach in Karachi

There were acting on a tip-off received and stopped a suspicious passenger coach for checking which was coming to Karachi from Mirpur, Azad Kashmir. During search they recovered 40 kilogrammes of marijuana inside an old carton on the roof of the coach.

The coastguards seized the drugs and arrested four smugglers and the driver, and have also taken the coach into custody. According to a Coastguards spokesman, the drugs worth Rs35 million were supposed to be smuggled to the Middle East. He said that investigation are underway for further details.

During the current year, the Coastguards has recovered more than 3500 kg of marijuana, 450 kg opium, and 12 kg of heroin. DG Coastguards has announced has announced a cash reward for the exceptional performance.
