Nation marks Kashmir Day with traditional fervour

KARACHI: Kashmir Solidarity Day is being observed today across the globe, including Pakistan, amid rallies and demonstrations to express harmony with millions of Kashmiris, ARY News reported on Wednesday.

Kashmir dispute emerged at the time of independence of India and Pakistan in 1947. As India is standing firm to its plot to occupy Kashmir, Pakistan is also endeavouring alongside to ensure Kashmiris get their due rights.

Rallies and protest demonstrations were held in almost all cities of Pakistan, including Karachi, Lahore, Peshawar and Islamabad to express solidarity with Kashmiris.

Mutahidda Shehri Mahaz staged a rally in Multan from Chowk Kacheri wherein participants chanted slogans against Indian oppression in Kashmir and burnt the Indian flag.

Similar kinds of rallies were also taken out in different parts of the country. A kilometer-long human chain comprising civil society members and leaders of Jamaat-e-Islami was formed in Rawlakot during a protest to demonstrate unity.

Several schools also organized programs to mark Kashmir Solidarity Day. The government had declared public holiday across the country in observance of the day.
