The protesting doctors demanded of the government to withdraw its decision immediately.

Patients suffered various problems due to doctors’ strike and asked the government to resolve the matter.

Doctors’ representatives also held a press conference yesterday highlighting they would only provide emergency cover in the four teaching hospitals during their strike.

They said complete strike would be observed in the four Medical and Teaching Institutions (MTI)-Lady Reading Hospital (LRH), Khyber Teaching Hospital (KTH) and Hayatabad Medical Complex (HMC) in Peshawar and Ayub Teaching Hospital (ATH) in Abbottabad today.

The doctors also expressed their resentment to what they termed punitive action by the government against some of the doctors and other health workers.
