Bid of massive terrorist attack in Karachi foiled, several arrested

A spokesman of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), has said that in intelligence based operations in Karachi and Hyderabad several wanted terrorists including deputy chief of outlawed Tehreek-i-Taliban Swat, Ameer Bakht Zaman, were arrested.

An explosives laden vehicle and a motorbike were also captured, the spokesman said.

The gang of terrorists was engaged in preparations of a major terrorism attack and was under surveillance for several weeks, ISPR statement said. The chief of outlawed Tehreek-i-Taliban Swat was present in Afghanistan to arrange suicide bombers for the massive suicide bombings in Karachi on August 14 with foreign assistance, the spokesman said.

Security agencies conducted coordinated operations on August 9 in Karachi and Hyderabad after surveillance for several weeks and arrested the terrorists.
